Work in Progress

Most of our letters from young animators ask us about finding new personalities to put in their stories.  Every critic, on the other hand complains about the weakness in the story and the lack of full development in the characters.  There is so much emphasis on story and personality in movie reviews, that it seems surprising that there are not more spectacular stories with deeper meaning at every screening in the country.

We will call this our "Work in Progress"

We have started our first work in progress with two pleasant individuals, well, Nilknarf and Revilo, competing in a whistling contest. There is also a dog, Gypsy, who seems to be unhappy with any kind of whistling.

Build, Develop, Make it Better!
All of you have seen popular characters who

    • are quick to anger

    • mischievous, making a joke of every situation

    • slow to catch on

    • big hearted, loving everybody

    • very smart

    • can't resist food

Why not start by trying various traits that will give the characters a more interesting focus?

    • Different voices?

    • Stronger attitudes?

    • Simpler story line?

    • More complicated story line?

Don't change anything you may like,  Don't change anything just to be different!
